Compliance management systems

The working group deals with the requirements for and design of compliance management systems (CMS). The basis for this is the 2021 working group’s DICO Standard “Compliance Management Systems”, which was developed in cooperation with the Viadrina Compliance Center of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder).

The aim of the working group is to develop handouts and tools to simplify practical compliance work. At the same time, it sees itself as a driving force for relevant compliance developments. To this end, it utilizes the interdisciplinary know-how and expertise of its members. In the working group, representatives from a wide range of industries and company sizes guarantee a diverse and balanced view of current topics trends, innovations and challenges in compliance management. In addition, overarching topics such as the interaction between the governance-functions and theand the impact of (Gen)AI on compliance are also highlighted and discussed.

Our work results

Current projects include the development of a digital compliance check to measure maturity levels.

Dr. Malcolm Gammisch

Compliance & Consulting
at the BAMAC Group

Dr. Malcolm Gammisch is responsible for Compliance & Consulting at the BAMAC Group. Previously, as Global Head of Compliance at DHL Freight, he was responsible for compliance and data protection in an international context.

Malcolm Gammisch studied in Cologne, Paris, Oxford and Berlin and began his professional career at KPMG. He has advised various companies (from start-ups to DAX companies) on strategic governance issues and conducted operational audits. He has also managed special projects in the private and public sectors, such as the optimization of reporting, monitorship procedures under the US FCPA, risk/IT management and the development and digitalization of KPI models.

In his role as Division Compliance Officer at Siemens, he was responsible for the organizational and operational structure in two divisions worldwide. This included the introduction of compliance in new joint venture start-ups, innovative communication strategies and the design and implementation of specialist and management training and coaching (Compliance Academy and leadership/management courses).

Susanne Schenk

Partner at Deloitte

Susanne Schenk is a partner at Deloitte and the service offering “Compliance Management System (CMS) & Regulatory Compliance”.

Together with her team, she advises companies of all sectors and sizes – from start-ups to DAX-listed corporations – and has extensive experience in managing compliance projects of all kinds, from the introduction or optimization of compliance management systems and organizations, the development of compliance strategies, gap analyses / readiness checks and compliance risk analyses to the implementation of compliance IT solutions.

Ms. Schenk also supports compliance functions in the context of US monitorships, M&A transactions and initial public offerings (IPOs) as well as in the preparation for the audit of compliance management systems. In addition, Ms. Schenk also has experience in other compliance areas such as financial crime (including anti-fraud/corruption, AML, financial sanctions/embargoes) and also advises on governance issues (e.g. interlinking of governance functions and systems).
