Publication of working paper A21 – Internal investigations – Conducting interviews

DICO Working Group “Internal Investigations & Whistleblower Systems” publishes working paper on “Internal Investigations – Conducting Interviews”

The examination of potential compliance violations through internal investigations has become part of everyday life for many companies. The questioning of respondents in interviews is a necessary part of such investigations and the determination of factual bases. This working paper offers practical assistance with questions on preparing and conducting such interviews. Readers are guided step by step through a possible process: after an introduction to the principles of an interview, the paper continues with the sections on preparatory actions, conducting, documenting and following up an interview – each section is summarized in clear dos and don’ts. The book concludes with a separate section on conducting a remote interview.

The working paper is designed as a supplement to the DICO standard “Internal Investigations” and the working papers “Investigation Process” and “Cross-Border Investigations” of the DICO working group “Internal Investigations and Whistleblower Systems”. For a detailed elaboration of the most important legal obligations and limits in internal investigations, please refer to the above-mentioned publications.

A big thank you goes to the members of the working group under the leadership of Tim Ahrens, Dr. Christiane Freund, Christian Miege and Dr. Fabian Quast for producing the working paper.

All DICO standards and working papers mentioned are available to our members free of charge in DICOllaborate.
